Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary. The city is located in the east of the country in the so-called Alfold Plain. It is also the spiritual center of the Hungarian Reformed Church. In the middle there is a statue of Michiel de Ruyter in honor of his contribution to freeing 26 Hungarian priests from forced labor in 1676. They were forced to work on the various galley ships under the leadership of the then Austrian Emperor.
